<About research>
Identification of tumor suppressors in low pH tumor microenvironment

In this study, we analysed the effects of extracellular acidic pH on human cancer cells and explored for factors involved in tumor growth specific to acidic pHe environment. We found that acidic pHe inhibits the growth of most cancer cells and causes organelle dysfunctions. In addition, we identified a acidic pHe-specific tumour suppressor, which inhibits tumour growth in mice by repressing the expression of cell death suppressors in tumor cells.
