Myeongok Kim, Nazmul Ahsan, Chen Chen, Dorota A. Kowalczyk, Nicholas Trainor, Joan M. Redwing, and Yoshitaka Okada, "Effect of Off-angle on the Epitaxial Growth of MoS2 on Off-angle Sapphire by Metal-organic Chemical Vapor Deposition"

    【About research】
Flexible like graphene while having a bandgap, transition metal dichalcogenide (TMDC) is a promising material for next generation electronics. Wafer-scale bottom-up growth method is indispensable for its device application, and one of the challenges is aligning the domains for seamless stitching with no defects. In this research, we studied the effect of off angle direction on MoS2 domain alignment using metal-organic chemical vapor deposition (MOCVD) growth method. We have found that off-angle to {11-20} A plane on {0001} c plane sapphire is effective in suppressing 30 degree rotation, out-of-plane vertical growth, allowing lateral growth of domains with high crystalline quality.

    【Comment】
Thanks to the kind introduction from Professor Okada, I could do research on the epitaxial growth of TMDC under Professor Redwing of Pennsylvania State University. I sincerely appreciate Professor Okada and Professor Redwing for giving me such a valuable opportunity and a thorough research supervision. I would like to continue investigating the epitaxial growth mechanism of TMDC.
